He Was Me

Here's another animation - a four minute animated film I made a few years ago. I was inspired by a boy whose voice we were recording at FableVision - a rather straightforward software demo. His voice was terrific!! I thought I'd write something to honor that voice - and quickly record it before his voice changed! I realized that my hurry to catch him before he stepped out of that warm and wonderful child voice and into the deeper, more serious adult voice - world - THAT was the story. Watch He Was Me and tell me what you think.

A journey's beginning...the film that led me to you.

I still remember sitting in the crowd at TCEA 2007...and by coincidence in a pair of "blue shoes"...not knowing who this "Peter Reynolds" guy was....(sorry)
Then that little boy's voice popped open the door of the man's chest and said hello to me. That was the moment I was captured by a vision of the world which was much like my own. I felt connected.

I love that film. It still speaks to me.

Wow - I've always loved "He Was Me" (I even have it downloaded to my iPod), but I never knew that's how "He Was Me" came to be! I think the message of the film is very touching, heart gripping, and also very hopeful. I can understand why you'd want to capture that boy's voice while he was still young - it really is a great voice.

A great, great story. I have always wondered why we forget so soon about this child of us. I haven't, I couldn't, and I find it so difficult to understand why almost everybody else has...
The dot and ish,etc are the stories I want for my daughter, these are the thoughts I want for her, and I do hope she can say in a few years "She IS me". Thanks so much for your books and this universe you have created for all the children in the world. A big thank you from Spain.
Mamen.

I almost cried but that little girl in me told me that it would be OK, so I listened to her. Thanks for reminding me of another way of seeing and moving through my day.
